I may be stupid sometimes, I may be disperate for money, but lately I have noticed a lot more money in 1) cleaning leaves off from roofs and gutters, 2) snow removal off from roofs.

Just today I cleaned leaves off a roof of a commercial building. Only took me about 45 mins, and I charged $108.

For the past 6 years I have cleaned snow off from roofs when it gets heavy, especially for commercial accounts. It's hard work, but great money. Because think about, what are the chances that they could find someone else to do that kind of work, and what are the chances that the owner could do that type of service themselves.

This perhaps could be a real good add on service for a company.

I think it is a great idea. Doing things no one else wants to do always has a potential to make good money.

Are you thinking about marketing that service more? How would that fit in with what you are already doing?

Also are you concerned about higher workman's comp rates?

I don't have to worry about workers comp since I do not have employees, which is a plus. But liability insurance, that is a whole other area to worry about

I will probably just market it heavy to my current customer base. The perhaps later on it is something that I could market wider.

Here in New South Wales, Australia it is a Work Cover requirement to have a safety harness and a fall arrest system in place if you are working at a height of 2 meters above the ground (that's 6 foot for you guy's)

I have yet to see a gutter cleaning service using any safety equipment. Have you? I think it's a great idea, just haven't seen it implemented.

Ha...the ministry of Labour would have a field day with that guy in Canada. No harness, running around with a tripping hazard. Gutter cleaning is a lucrative business, because the truth is not many people want to do it. I am a big guy and I keep my butt on the ground.
