You will be DAYM lucky to find anyone crazy enough to do that, unless you really compensate them for their truck(gas soon to be 4 bucks a gallon, wear and tear, ins......yada yada yada).

Reverse the situation, what if where you worked now, went out and said on Thurs/Fri you will have to bring your own computer(lets assume you have an office job), what would you tell them?


I cant tell you to quit your job, but I would think long and hard about that at this point. You should also get some possible leaf clean ups from all these properties, mulch jobs, bushes, and you will be getting more work the more you are seen.

Worst case scenario, you do you lawn business during the day, and get a job from like 5 pm to 11pm doing something else, thats how I started my first lawn business.

Or, you could be in my shoes, having worked my ### off for a company running heavy equipment for seven years, a guy I have known for twenty years, and get told you need to find a new job!

Dont think it cant happen, I sure didnt!! Your employer more than likely does not give a rats ### about you, even if they do its all about bottom line these days.


Dont you want to be "master of your own destiny"

I am a licensed health/life insurance agent in the state of florida & that's what I did just prior to starting this business.
Yes individual insurance is expensive, The typical major medical policy that most employer groups offer to employees is also hard to get (even if you can afford it) if you've ever had much more than a cold in the past. If you have high blood pressure you might get the policy, if you have high cholesterol you might..... If you have both forget it! Group policies are mandatory issue in most states meaning even if you've had 3 heart attacks, you got to work for a company that has a group policy the have to accept you & write the policy. though everyone at the companies rates are likely to go up next year because of you. As an individual they can underwrite the policy. Meaning they can accept you, decline you, or rate you (counter offer at a higher rate to cover the higher risk of you having a claim due to past health issues etc.) I pay almost $700 / mo for coverage for myself, wife & 2 kids.... It's crazy. Cheap policies have cheap coverage. The ole' ya get whatcha pay for.

As far as part time jobs w/ bennies starbucks is the only one I know of but you will need an individual policy sooner or later man.

Whats to keep your employee from taking ur yards away?? u wont be there, they will see him doing all the work....why not just pay him and not u.

You really need a pt job, and do the lawn stuff yourself. you cant just leave someone on the job and expect them to do it right, you need to be there helping and supervising and IF he stays with u for years and u know u can trust him then think about expanding.
