I was reading about the guy with the broken pinky...that sucks...but made me think of the story my dad told me.

When my brother first started there was a lawn with low hanging tree branches, well he likes to go fast and was watching the grass in front of him...got knocked completely off the mower from running into a branch!!! hahahaha!!! And he's a huge guy in his mid 30's!!

Also my dad said once he got ahold of a hose somehow with the mower and tore out a whole pipe!! They spent the rest of the day fixing that!!

And due to the amount of sprinklers my brother breaks in his business he now carries sprinklers with him in his truck!!! hahahaha!!

So he has his own business. I'm waiting for a customer to come out and say I broke one and didn't realize!!

Also me and my dad were talking to a customer and the guy said that right after we left an underground cable came out of the ground and started shooting sparks everywhere. I don't think I did that...I mean I would have gotton fried right there wouldn't I??

Anyway anyone else have any funny experiances???

Lawn care business tips
Gosh, I could fill a page.

There was the time I accidently caught a pile of leaves on fire in a customer's yard. *They piled up over the deck of my mower and made contact with the muffler. *POOF!!!

There was the time I hit a stump with the blades killing the engine. *I loudly yelled a couple of expletives before I looked up to see the client's neighbor and her grandchild standing in the yard watching me.

There was the time I was changing oil in my Snapper walkbehind. *While letting the oil drain I ran inside to grab a drink of water. *Coming outside, I was happy with how quickly my maintenance day was progressing. *I immediately cranked the mower only to realize, about 15 seconds later, I hadn't yet replaced the oil.

Ummm...there was the time my helper forgot to strap down our small push mower to the back of the trailer (tilt trailer, no tailgate). *As I slowed down for the next curve I looked out my window to see the mower passing us on the road.

Lots more...

Friday the 13th this summer was not good for me...

Pulled up to the customer's house and unloaded everything. Got the trim mower going and did the edges and while under some bushes the oil cap got pulled off and oil came spurting out. Check the oil level after I shut it down and it needs some oil.

I go to the truck, no oil, no tool box. Must be home so I load everything back up and head home, about 8 miles away. I pull into the driveway and I see no mower on the trailer. The tie down is there, but no mower.

Unhook the trailer, head back down the street looking for my mower and hoping that it didn't hit another car or somebody. I find it 7 miles down the road at a curve. Its in the ditch wadded up into a ball. And I have no back up mower....

I gather all the parts and head back to the house, another 7 miles. I put it all back together, add the oil, load it back on the trailer and head back to the work site.

8 miles later I'm at the customer's house, unload the mower, fuel it up, and check the oil one more time. I go to start it and the deadman's handle, the one you have to hold down to keep it running, is not there. Load it on the trailer again and head to the scene of the crime. Spend half an hour looking for a bent piece of steel and find it hanging on the branch of a low tree. Bent into a shape that I didn't recognize...

Bend it back so it fits. Head back to the customer's again, unload the mower, won't start....

Decided to call it a day before anything else went wrong....

I stopped at the house to check messages, i told the new kid to grease the machine. He said grease the machine? I said yeah make sure you get it all the grease gun is there. I came out and he was smearing grease on the paint. He didnt know what a grease fitting was.

I was drafting water out of a pond for hydroseeding. A woman pulls up and says are you stocking the trout. I say YUP!

I asked one of my guys "hey where is the backpack blower?" He says oh crap i just dumped it at the town dump. I jump in the dumptruck and fly down to see a big front end loader turning the pile....ARG
