Just figured i'd post some pics of my car I'm building. *It was originally a 83 monte carlo sc but I'm making it a 87/88 SS. *These are the latest pics, sandblasted the frame and painted it, had custom solid body mounts made, boxed the frame in, notched the frame 1.5" on each side so i can run a 325/50/15 tire. *Took these pics of the cage, I'm doing the cage myself to save some money (everyone wanted 1500 to do it), its going to still be considerd a "street car" when its done since it will run on pump gas and street tires and have a full interior, its taking me awhile to do the cage so i can get it just right so you can't see it hardly from the outside. *Let me know what you think * *

Lawn care business tipsLawn Care Business Book
Hi kc2006,

That looks like a lot of fun! Does it have to pass inspection and be street drivable to be considered a "street car"

for the class i'll run it needs to have pump gas, street tires, a full interior, and also have registration and insurance. We don't have smog inspection in ohio (yet) so I'm clear on that. Should run low 9's in the 1/4 mile when its done, should be done by fall, just depends on how the business does this year.

What kind of engine will it use?

Also what type of tubing are you using and how did you bend it?

the engine is a 420 small block (bored and stroked 400) with a procharger blower. The tubing for the roll cage I bought pre bent from a chassis shop, so far all the bends were dead on but you have to trim them down and notch them and some of the notches have real weird angle so it takes some time, they're 1 5/8" and mostly just referred to as roll cage tubing, i believe its, its seemless in other words no welded so it's alot stronger.
