Default Trailer equipment

Hello everyone I got a trailer yesterday and I am shopping around for some equipment. Some trimmer racks and tool boxes. Now I have a wild thought of putting a truck tool box on the trailer instead of a tongue tool box because I have a spare wheel in that spot. Now some of you may ask why not put the tool box on the truck as well, I kind of want everything on the trailer so when I unhook it from the truck I don't have any of my business equipment on the truck if that makes sense. Because at the moment I am borrowing the truck.
So I measured the trailer's width it is 63". Tool boxes are 61.5" I am wondering of any of you guys have done this? Let me know.

This website won't let me upload the photos.

Congrats on the trailer! In my opinion, trailer racks are a waste on money. my trimmers go in the back of my truck bed. Cheap and works great. I've heard and seen the war stories of trimmer racks...not really sure what the purpose is other than "showing off" your equipment. I used a cable to fasten a plastic tote on my trailer with any tools and things I need. Doesn't move at all and cost me $25.

I have a truck box bolted to the floor of my trailer. It works fine for me and what I have right now. Guess it all depends on what you gotta cart around cause you do obviously lose some floor space by doing that.

Try making the image a little smaller then reupload it.

I am sure it could work.

Here are some pics I found of similar ideas.

Although commercial trimmers are built pretty tough I would much rather have my trimmers secured in a trimmer rack, instead of rolling around in the back of my truck. They always seem to either be rolling around back there or you have too many other things in the truck and your piling them on top. I have never had a problem with thieves in this area, but I believe most if not all are lockable, to save them from sticking fingers if you are going to be away from the truck for a while. (In a store, restraunt, ect.) Plus it also helps with that professional appearance aspect when you are pulling up to a new customers lawn for the first time and they have one more reason to believe they have hired the right company to take care of there property.

good reason not to get trimmer racks right here....

When they hang, the air filter side is down... when it rains guess where all the water goes? in your air filter box. when you pick it up and move it guess what absorbs that water? your air filter.... and when you go to start it guess what sucks in all that water... your carburetor.... then its in your engine, causing rust and burnt rings....

not the happiest with my racks either. Soon after buying them a trimmer was stolen. Then because of the way the rack holds the trimmers it bent the shaft on two of them.

If you get them buy ones that have something to support the weight of the engines.

If you could give me an example of 1 customer that went with you because you had trimmer racks, I'll go out today and buy some.

My truck bed does just fine....and the trimmers don't move at all.

I dont know what kind of trimmers your running but my echos dont sit sideways in the rack. My handlebar sthil has to be sideways but not once have I had a problem with rain water it the 5 years I have been using trimmer racks and they are out in the rain all the time.

"not the happiest with my racks either. Soon after buying them a trimmer was stolen. Then because of the way the rack holds the trimmers it bent the shaft on two of them.

Thats why trimmer racks are lockable, so you can protect your equipment, if a thief wants it they can grab it from the back of your truck alot faster and easier then they could a trimmer rack.

What kind of rack are you using that wont support the engine, my trimmers rest by the trigger and the other end out on the shaft. The only way for them to bend on the rack would be carelessness (not watching where your driving, leaning against it, ect.)

"If you could give me an example of 1 customer that went with you because you had trimmer racks, I'll go out today and buy some.

You know as well as I do that nobody is going to say "wow you have trimmer racks I want you to do my lawn" but I have had numerous comments on how organized and professional my rig looks, and thats what customers want to see. If you take care of your equipment they expect you will do the same for there lawns.

I use echos and they always end up on their side. I got rid of the rack. I gave it away. After going through two string trimmers ruined by water I finally found the problem after I let one sit in the garage for a summer week and the air filter started growing mold.
