I was thinking $45 without bagging, I have a free dump site and could just load it on my truck, major problem is I don't have a bagger for my lawn mower, and I made sure she knew that.

All i have is a lawn sweeper which would be a lot more work, if I were to do that it would defiantly be in the $60+ range. We will see if she calls back, I am not going any lower than $40 non bagged for this place, if I get it then great, if I don't oh well.

Lawn care business tips
I mow a lawn thats about an acre if not just a little over with a lot of trimming and a big bank to mow. I charge $90 a week takes about hour and a half. I wouldn't pull up to the house and unload for $50.

I gave her an estimate of $40-50 a week, she immediately said that was to much and couldn't afford it, she would call me back and let me know, i highly doubt i am going to be doing it.

I figured with the extra trimming and push mowing plus bagging it was going to cost at least $40.

Do you think I over bid the price, or was i right on?
If this is an hour's worth of work, what would be the cheapest you would be willing to do the job for?

It seems to me you would need to charge at least what you bid on it and any lower could mean losing money.

If it took me an hour to mow and trim it, I would charge her no less than $50, that's why i told her $40-$50.

I don't want to start a new topic about this, but I would like to possibly pick up a couple yards to do this year without investing too much money into it. What do you think would be a good way to get my name out to a couple potential clients?

Flyers, signs on a pole, grocery store bullitin board, word of mouth. Have a commercial mower ready I know it sounds like a lot but you have to have it and they are easy to pay off once you get started. Motivate yourself aviod fenced small gates.
Ps. That yard you bid was low you should be getting 60 dollars an hour with a commercial walk behind. if you push mow it and bag it you should be at least getting 60 dollars an hour. PERIOD. GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS.

I'm thinking about maybe having some postcards made and mailing them out locally, I am only aiming for maybe 2-3 yards to take care of for now. Does it sound like a decent plan or a waste of money?

Yeah, I am really hoping she chooses me to do it, but I haven't heard anything back from her and i'm starting to think she is either going to find someone to do it really cheap, or talk someone into doing it for free.

Have you called back to see if she has anymore questions about your bid?

If you want to grow, you have to experiment with your marketing. Why not try it and see what kind of response you get?
