Default Well..i guess ill give this a shot

So basically im a senior in highschool who is money hungry to say the least
i race dirt bikes and it isnt cheap and for some reason i cant seem to get a job...ive been cutting lawns since i was 4 years old...i started up my own neighborhood business in 6th grade and had 2 accounts..it was ok..i was a kid though..i lost 1 because of the economy and i still have the other one to this day..so im deciding to start my own lawncare business up for the summer..i am good with photoshop and have freinds who have been in this business, i have a flyer designed..just trying to find a good priced place to print them, vistaprint and kinkos is the only thing that comes to mind..i also have freinds who work in grocery stores who are willing to ask to put them up in the store billboard, so i guess i have all the right ingredients..just need a little guidance, i also can't decide to do half sheets or have little tabs at the bottom of the flyer

sorry for the novel, have a good day fellas

Lawn care business tips
Hey man,

I am in the same boat. The being a senior and owning a lawn care business. I started my business back last spring when I was 17. I have grown it with becoming an LLC, building a website, getting uniforms, new truck, new trailers, new commercial mowers, and ect. The biggest thing is getting accounts right? The easiest and most effective way to advertise at our age is with friends. I have grown outside of just friends with using door hangers, fliers, adwords, craigslist, business cards, t-shirt giveaways, signs, truck/trailer signs, and hats. This winter (for snow removal) I am running 2 crews of 20 properties each. The key to gaining important new accounts is looking professional and doing a fantastic job. I may only be 18 but I am bigger than most lawn companies in my area. Try to aim at small properties and grow to bigger ones as you gain more experience. My smallest properties (which I landed when I first started) take 20-40min each. I am meeting with a guy who runs a neighborhood of houses which would take one or maybe even two days a week to cut. Aim small and grow as your equipment and knowledge grows. I would go for the tabs on the bottom of the fliers. I can post a pic of some of the ones I have made. They are great marketing tools! But do not only focus on those. Design fliers the same way either quarter sheets or half sheets and put them up all over town on peoples doors (its the cheaper version of door hangers). If you got any questions feel free to let me know!

What methods would you suggest to build word of mouth up amongst your friends?

Steve,

I would definitely say just let people know you do lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, whatever your services may be. Then with the few friends you are able to get as customers either their parents, grandparents, or themselves take those customers and treat them like gold. Your good work will spill into neighbors yards and from there you will begin to see your business grow into a staple in the community. Hope this helps!

Thank you,
Tim Oezer

Tony,

What kind of bikes do you ride? Do you have any pics of you racing around?

Those are great pictures!

You could potentially carry your interest in dirtbikes over to your mowing. Paint your mowers the colors of your dirtbike and put stickers and such on them.

Call your company MX Lawn Care.

Then maybe have your company sponsor your motorcycling racing.

Do up your work trailer with graphics that would work with both your company and your racing.

Maybe even have it say MX Lawn Care Racing Team on it. Or Team MX Lawn Care.

You could have a lot of fun with all that.

I bet you could make some killer graphics on your flyer.

If you look up some mx racing flyers, you will see they are all colorful with great graphics. You could change the motorcycle pictures for similar angled mower pictures.
