Spent this week being a mechanic. lol Saved myself $1200-$1400 replacing the oil pan gaskets and some other gasket on two of my mowers myself. Gaskets, plugs, oil & filter, and seals only run me about a $100. Been needing to do this for some time, it was a fire hazard just waiting to happen. Both mowers have over 2000 hrs, still running like a top now. :-) What repairs have you done or need to do on your mowers? These repairs were time consuming, took about 7 hrs to complete each one. Big relief, now they are ready to go for the coming season. Getter Done!

Been leaking for months as most mowers with many hours do. lol I have a buddy that had lost a mower due to leaking gaskets and have seen a few others on different forums that had also caught fire.

Decided I better do something about mine before I caught fire too. :-) Everyone tends to think it wont happen to them until it does, could be a very costly mistake if ignored to long.

Worked on the truck this time-not the mowers, but, change the axle seals, gasket and rear end lube, brakes all the way around, new wheel cylinders, new calipers, new drums, new rotors, also new ball joints upper and lower, both sides, inner and outer tie rod ends, steering arm, torsion bar bushings. total cost of material, about 600 bucks, total time 2 days. Total estimate from the shop 4000 dollars. My time is definitely worth that.

How about YOU (anybody) isn't your time worth doing your own repairs instead of the 'shop' where you are going to get gouged?

I am already cutting here in the south. This past winter I oiled everything, sharpened blades, and rebuilt a carburetor on a Brigs and Stratton. I also rebuilt an old chainsaw a customer gave me last year. It sat for five years with fuel in it. I hate spending money having someone else fix my stuff unless I just can’t.
