Lawn care business tips
It looks like you spent a lot of time putting all that together. The site looks great and the video was well produced.

The only thing I could think of adding is maybe some of the zip codes you service. Possibly in your title?

use photobucket and flickr.com to host your photos, in the title put your (services with my city name.. 'mulch installation dallas, ga', 'fire ant control dallas, ga' etc..) along with your website name

Add to your Signature on this site your site (like I have) This website is a GREAT backlink and everytime you post its a new link

I love the colors, and the layout!

Great stuff!

You should add your number to the bottom of your pages as well. Let it be the first and last thing people see.

Looks good Krzy....

One on page factor you may want to pick 2-3 broad keywords + 1 city for the title of each page.

example keywords: Lawn Care, Grass Mowing
city: Greenwhich

Title of home page: Greenwhich Lawn Care | Grass Mowing in Greenwhich | Phone Number

Focus the content of the home page only on Greenwhich, and briefly mention you also service Stamford & Darien

Create 2 more pages with very similar content with each focusing on only 1 city..

Page 2: Stamford Lawn Care | Grass Mowing in Stamford | Phone Number

Page 3: Darien Lawn Care | Grass Mowing in Darien | Phone Number

Link to these 2 pages from your homepage.

It's suggested to do this with every keyword you plan to target. Just target 2 kw's per page and you'll find it will be much easier to rank.

Although, that does mean you'll have to create a lot more pages, but it'll be worth it.

When trying to target two keywords per page, what should you be doing to accomplish that?

1) They need to be in the title of the page.
2) The 2 keywords need to appear in the content of the page bolded at least once
3) Backlinking campaign to the page targeting several variations of the keyword

So if your 2 main keywords are "Blue Widget" and "Red Widget" with your main town being Jackson, MI; then a link building campaign would focus on variations of the keywords as the anchor texts...

Example:

Jackson, MI Blue Widget
Blue Widget Jackson, MI
Blue Widgets Jackson, MI
Blue Widget in Jackson, MI
Blue Widgets in Jackson, MI
Red Widget
Blue Widget
Blue Widgets and Red Widgets
Jackson, MI
Jackson, MI Red Widget
Red Widget Jackson, MI
Red Widgets Jackson, MI
Red Widgets in Jackson, MI

Any and all variations of your 2 Keywords + City.

That's just a start... there also needs to be some focus on NOT over optimizing your anchor texts... so it's always good to throw a nice handful of
related anchor texts at the page as well....

ie. Green Widget, Purple widget, Yellow Widget.

A good rule to follow is for every 2-3 Direct Optimized backlinking campaigns, you'll want to throw in a "non-optimized campaign" that does not contain the targeted keywords.

So let's say you blast 600 backlinks at your a page targeting red and blue widgets... you'll want to follow that up with a backlink campaign to the same page that only relates to the page.

For example in lawn care:

page Targeting Lawn Mowing & Seeding

Step 1: Campaign targeting this page with variations of Lawn Mowing & Seeding.
Step 2: Campaign targeting Tree Stump Removal, Tree Trimming, Leaf Clean Up.
Step 3: Rinse, repeat.

In most small towns < 40-50k, a lawn business will probably only have to run a few campaigns to see good rankings.

And for the most part from what I've noticed is even larger cities have only moderate competition when it comes to online placement.

If you live in a city of less than 20k, you should be able to totally dominate page one of google with a moderate bit of effort.

Very interesting stuff!

Optimized backlinking campaigns
When these campaigns are being done, what would you suggest consists of a campaign? How many backlinks should be put out there on the web and directed back to your site with those keywords to make a campaign?

Each backlinking campaign I do consists of 1200 backlinks at a time, although the number isn't as important as consistency.

"best practices" of link building is weekly campaigns, then tapering to zero when you have good rankings.

Example:
Week 1: 100 backlinks
Week 2: 100 backlinks
Week 3: 100 Backlinks
Week 4: 100 Backlinks
Week 5 you realize you are #1 on the keywords you're targeting
Week 5: 75 Backlinks
Week 6: 50 Backlinks
Week 7: 25 Backlinks
Week 8: 25 Backlinks
Week 9: 10 Backlinks
Week 10: 10 Backlinks

From there on you can sprinkle the backlinks in whenever you can.

But generally I don't follow "best practices" in easy markets. I'll blast 1200 backlinks a week until I get good rankings... then scale back to a few hundred every 2-3 weeks.

If I catch rankings falling, I'll pick back up at 1200 per week until I'm satisfied again.

For the lawn market, I've done zero backlinking to date, yet have still attained page 1 rankings based solely on onpage optimization.

And really the platform in which a site is hosted has little to do with how well a site ranks unless you're competing against tens of thousands of competitors on a global scale. This is where every inch matters in regards to google position. But for a local lawn business or any 'local' type business, it's irrelevant.

To prove this point, simply google Natchez Grass Mowing Service

You'll notice the top 2 listings are http://BruinLawn.com. I registered the site on December 27, 2012 (just 14 days ago)

The site is absolutely atrocious at this point and consists of a single page, but it doesn't matter. What matters is people actually finding the website and picking up the phone to call.
