Default I don't like my godaddy website...

Can anyone give me any hints to make this look better or recommend a better company to host my domain?

I just think its looks like a cheap website which it is. I'm looking at a different web host that would have better templates. I want more crisp. Not so generic looking. What are some more hosts?

Chances are that if you're looking for free templates, most everything will look generic unless you hire a pro to customize it. It really doesn't have anything to do with the host, because all they do is allow you to put your site on their server.

I'm still not sure what you don't like specifically. If you like the grass background, then all you'd need really is a professional header image created for you.

I believe the header is what makes it look amateurish.

It's great that you have a website to start with, so don't be too hard on yourself.

I'm quite a fan of using SquareSpace for creating websites. They have some really awesome looking templates, particularly if you plan on showing lots of photos of your work.

It's only $8 a month, which I'm sure is more expensive than GoDaddy, but it could be worth it if you can create a great looking site which is a bit different from all the others out there.

I second that. GODADDY is mainly a register, secondly a host and doesnt do web design.

You either need someone to make you a website or diy. I recommend wordpress since its real easy and has 10,000s templates. Its also cheap to get a custom template.

You can remain with godaddy as a host too. They just host the files, you can put whatever there.

A WordPress site for your business, will separate you from your competition. Sect is right there are 1000's of free templates(themes) to choose from and customize to you & your audience's liking.

Here are professional themes I pay for and use not only for my site but others I have created sites for. Elegant Themes

I am pretty certain GoDaddy offers a 1 Click installation of WordPress and can host this for you. After WordPress has been installed, you can search for themes in WordPress's database for free themes or purchase a theme.

Believe me when I tell(AND THIS IS NO SALES JOB! ! )WordPress has been one of the BIG reasons our sales have gone through the roof & there are no signs of this stopping.

Your Site Needs:

*Logo
*Photos of work**-On your pages, as opposed to an actual gallery...Plus TAGS of your photos(descriptions)
*SEO
*Internal Linking
*FONT decision**-It looks like your "Lawn Calendar" has different FONT than your other pages.
*Google Analytics Code**-Not certain if you actually have placed this in your site...VERY IMPORTANT!
*Services**Yes you list them, but it is highly recommended that you write about each service and make them their own individual page.

We are not listed in the phone book or on any printed material other than my POST CARD size flyers.

The other thing is ease of use. I have a buddy that had a site professional designed and it is nice but he cant update it himself. Every picture or service he needs to add cost him more money. Since he has to call the guy to do it.

With wordpress you can update it yourself. Its easy to maintain, customize, and do seo.

Any host site (vistaprint, godaddy, etc) is going to be garbage. You cant really do anything with it.

I am unaware of how functional GoDaddy & WordPress are together. I use BlueHost for all my sites to Host. And they have the 1 click installation also.

I use Wordpress for three websites (lawn care, blog, and another business) and I recommend it. There are many many themes to give your site a good style and many come with tools like image sliders and contact forms. Lots of the themes are free yet are still pretty good.

There are plug-ins too that can add abilities to your site.

WP, themes, and plug-ins have easy installation and upgrades.

Things to beware of:
- Get themes and plug-ins from businesses that make them and are ongoing. That is, don't get stuff that has no tech support or upgrades because the maker is gone or may be poorly made by amateurs.
- Keep WP, your theme, and your plug-ins updated to avoid security problems.
- Some plug-ins and themes don't work well together.

I have a business hosting account with Midphase. It isn't the cheapest but I have little trouble and the customer and tech support is good. I have heard that Host Gator is a good host too.
