Do I need to replace the fuel filter? It looks kind of dirty and I don't know when I replaced it last.
It can't hurt!

That is fantastic! I'd love to see a pic of the before and after filter! SO others can see the difference.

Okay, replacing the fuel filter in the weed eater helped, but the next day i'm running it and it starts doing the same thing. I take it in and the throttle cable on the top going into the carb is just loose enough to be moving around and allowing air into it. The filter was dirty, but the cable was playing havoc with the performance.
On another note, the new Shindaiwa's are not the same as the older version. My old one is in the shop and the owner told me to keep this one healthy as long as possible. The new one's with the emissions controls just aren't the same. If I ever need another, then i'm gonna search E-bay for a replacement!
On the 252, my mechanic fished his hand down in the tank and pulled out a fuel line that had come unattached! I definitely wouldn't have thought of that as the answer to the problem. He said that had been a problem with that model. The new one is a hard plastic that ethanol in the gas wouldn't effect. The ethanol eats away at the connection point. Thanks again!
