Back in the field!

I am glad to see that there is a forum like this... sharing tips, giving advice and frankly sometimes just being blunt. I live in FL and have been in the field for many years. I left the field in 01 and opend a store selling cell phones and accessories.... was not the gold mine I had hoped for!! But a desent living to say the least. As it stands now I am getting back into the field I love and starting another Landscape Management Company!

well thats good. so do you plan to target your old clients or are you gonna start from scratch so to say.

Im gonna start over,for the most part. I just landed my first 4 accounts Friday 4 Nursing homes owned by the same company and all within 6 miles from my home. I think im gonna try to go straight comercial this time round.

Advertising was a must in the world of cell phones I would spend 20% of my profits on ads alone, and I plan to do the same with my Landscape Management Company as well. Customer service is key I had all kinds of issues come in the door of my store, some were a quick fix some were a pain, in the end mad customers left with a smile AND THATS WHAT COUNTS! My skills in customer service are helping me everyday. I was also a fine sales rep leading my area in sales for 1 full year PROUD! I now find it easy to sell and upsell my services to pontential clients. At the end of the day business is business no matter what you do, I kinda see both of my ventures going hand and hand....funny how that is.

How effective is word of mouth in your area

Word of mouth works great around here when your established. My theory on starting out...Everyone knows a lawn company but not mine. Thats why I use ads to introduce myself and my company to potential clients. Worth every single dollar.
