The majority of my work orders come from Bank of America.

There is more to maintaining a property than cutting grass. Trees and bushes can damage houses and they make a easy entry ladder for rodents and bugs.

Many cities also have standards that the yards must meet to avoid citations In some southern CA cities you have to paint the grass green in the summer.

Most jobs I don't bid. I let the preservation company I contract with bid the jobs since the higher the approved bid the more they make as well.

The problem is not the banks being tight or cheap. The problem is the bank gives the work to company A, company A hires company B, company B hires company C, company C hires vendors/ contractors like me and can only pay them $50 to cut a 3' tall lawn because everyone has to get a cut of the $.

Take out all the middle men and you get paid a decent amount of money.

The gutters were a first for me, but they were bad where the trees were over the house so I get why they wanted them cleaned out.

Believe me or not I don't care. I know what the checks that get sent to me look like. I wouldn't recommend BS work to someone.

yes it must vary by state. but over here in WI, it usually goes to the cheapest bid!! also over here you cant just do 40 houses a week or w/e you want to do, they want you to take all the houses they got. . .so there only paying one company to do all the work and not 20 company's. . .

I am sure the work is different state to state. Many states the bank will pay for snow removal as well.

Yes the hours vary. And when you get work it needs to be done within a few days so there are days that long hours are required.

I am able to refuse any work that I am unable to complete without any negative consequences. But if you cherry pick the easy/ small properties they will figure it out and get rid of you.

If you were not being paid a fair price for the work I would be willing to bet the work was being passed around more than you were aware of. Sucks that you had a negative experience.
