PR (page rank) OBL (outbound links)

When going for backlinks you want links from websites/pages with a higher page rank. Now...backlinks from sites with low pagerank will not hurt but don't yield as much power.

outbound links are how many external links that a website has. meaning how many websites is this website linking to? the lower the number, the better. Think of it in terms of saturation.

As far as backlinks...

First of all let me stop you, have you checked your content? is your on-page content optimized? is your keyword density 2-3%? (keyword occurrence). Are you using meta tags? using alt tags on all images?

Instead of explaining something that will give me blank stares here is a start...

Once you have made sure all of your on-site content is optimized. Start with writing a few 500 word articles. (yes search engine optimization requires work) (unless you pay) Make sure your articles are using the keyword you are trying to rank for. Include your keyword in the first paragraph, a couple of times through the body, and one time in the footer.

Go to www.articlesbase.com and get a new account. Post your article(s). When posting your articles include your keyword in the title of the article, as well as in the description.

Submit for review...(this can take a few days to be approved)

(once articles have been approved)
Now go to http://www.social-bookmarking-sites-list.com/

Sign up for the TOP 10. And start bookmarking the article(s) on each site.

go to pingomatic.com

- copy the name of your article and paste it in were it says "blog Name"
- copy the URL of the article and paste in "blog URL"

Ping it.

Rinse and repeat for the same keyword.

SEO is not easy. You don't get on google's page 1 in days, weeks, sometimes even months. But it's very rewarding when your sitting pretty at #1 and raking in all of the leads

Hope this helps some of you. This works...I'm an Internet Consultant, my team does SEO 24/7. This is the best place to start

Regards,

Mitch

NOTE: Steve, I'm not directing this to YOU PERSONALLY, I just proof read and my intention was a "to all" post. Just so happen I was responding to your question in the mean time.

Mitch,

Great post.

Do you have any suggestions for figuring out your key word density? Should you simply count all the words in the article and then count how many times your key words appeared or is there an easy way to go about this?

Also, do you advise to have each key word occurrence link to the website you want your search engine ranking to improve on or is it ok to just have the key words appear without the links?

The easy way is to just paste your article in here - http://www.keyworddensitytools.com/

It will tell you what your keyword density is.

As far as the links, it depends on what your article will be used for. If it's being used in article directories then no. Because the directories will not approve the article if it has links in the body.

If you are writing several articles/blog posts, I advise some interlinking within the website. Link some of your inner pages together using anchor text.

Main keyword; DIVERSIFY

This is very interesting. What is your view on the importance of using anchor text and linking to other inner pages? I would figure that wouldn't do much because it's still on your own site. What is your thought on that?

Googlebot: Since most of your external links will point at your homepage, that is likely the page that Googlebot will land on when it finds your site. Because of this, you don’t want your important pages to be hidden from Googlebot’s all-seeing eye. Since you know Googlebot will arrive at your homepage, give it easy access to your important pages by giving it links to all of them. A simple way to accomplish this is by placing them in the footer.

The idea is to create a "deep" website. The more interlinked your website is, the longer Google's spy's will hang around and report back. Nowadays google is giving a lot of weight to deep, interlinked websites. It shows consistency and as any SEO guru will tell you, Google LOVES consistency. That's why blogs rank so high so easy.

PageRank: Whenever someone searches for a keyword your site is related to, Google will usually show your homepage in its search results. But don’t think there is anything special about your homepage…there isn’t. Google shows your homepage because that is probably where 99% of your link juice resides (because that is the page other sites link to when they want to reference your site). Because of this link juice “imbalance” between your homepage and the rest of your site, you’re going to want to spread the love, so to speak. Give your important sub-pages the link juice they deserve and insert a link to them from the homepage.

Users: This one isn’t related to SEO per se but it’s important nonetheless. People surfing on the web have the attention span of a housefly. Seriously, if you don’t impress your audience right away and give them something useful to see, do, or read, they’re going to leave. So catch them where you know they’ll be–your homepage. If you hide your important pages too deep within your site, you have no hope of anyone ever finding them. This is the age of YouTube. Give people what they need–fast.

It won't hurt your site (right now), but I'm afraid I have to say that it will not help it much either.

Most website like these have HUGE lists of auto approve blogs. This means that they automatically accept your comments/links. Now..this is good...but bad. It's good because It's usually hard to find sites like these, and when you do typically they are already saturated with links. When a site is saturated with outbound links google brushes them off and gives them little to no creditably.

So for free? yeah, why not...I would not recommend doing this if you really plan on getting up in the rankings though. In the long run it could harm your sites rankings.

Just my $0.02 everyone has different opinions with these type of websites/services. I run my company on a "quality over quantity" factor. Which is why my clients are normally sitting pretty at #1, killing their competitors
