They contacted me saying twenty a yard up to I think it was 15k sq ft yards. I never followed thorough do to the money they claim they give you a lot of yards to cover the income I didn't follow up tho sorry

that's a classic, i'll have to use that on the next guy that wants a raise.

i can't give you no more money but i will give you more work to compensate it.

i was contacted by one of these companies and on top of that they only wanted to pay next to nothing for a cut they wanted me to take photo's of the whole property and submit them in order to get paid.
then they only wanted them cut at most twice a month and the first cut the grass was usually 2 ft tall.

they also wanted me to change the locks on the homes and take photo's inside as well as stock the locks in my truck at my expense.
plus they wanted me to take away the debris from the yard waste as well as anything left behind in the house and yard for like $10.00 per yard.

the lady on the phone seemed to be beside herself when i told her to go scratch.
she was like i can not believe you are turning a opportunity like this down and i was like, what opportunity? cutting a 100 lawns a month for 2 to 4 thousand a month before costs and if i miss one photograph showing the work is done i lose the money.

i worked for the before. i found that they had some work not a lot in new jersey. if you got nothing else to do and you have equipment sitting idle go for it. i recomend that if you can set up that all you do is take pictures of the houses, you get paid $10 a house. i started with them because they semmed the most promising of all the property perservation groups. they do pay you when they say they will, however i found that i would wait untill they had at least 6 houses for me to make the trip. i had just opened my doors a week before i found them so i had the equipment sitting and i needed money to come in. if the properties are around you they would be great for bandit signs for advertising.
i would recomend doing a few and you would have some great before and after shots
some houses are over 15k so make sure you check with zillow. most of the time the grass will be high, but not huge.
could anyone recomend a good group in New York

good point's krzy, my chime was in regards to them calling me at a time when my business is allready established so for me to dedicate a crew to them i would be making 1/3 what i should and putting excessive use on my machines.

but back in the day when i started out, if i did not have a full weeks work or no work at all i would work for local tree company's that i was freindly with as a climber. i was paid pretty good wages to do that and the income per hour climbing trees exceeds the income per hour i would make doing the foreclosure properties with no wear and tear on my machines.

i like the way you think, it's just like me. take advantage of the opportunity to get some free advertising and promote your name.

i was lucky that i had the tree's to fall back on as a saftey net but if you got nothing else going on the worst you can do is break even and maybe pick up some new accounts and build your name.

Can you explain this more? What does that mean they give you a lot of yards to cover the income?

they give you a lot of yards by there standards. there are 3 variables to you getting a "lot of yards"
1) the size of the large cities next to you.
2) the amount of forclosures in those cities.
3) how good the conections are with the property preservation group with the banks in that state, and local area.
they wanted to give me sometimes 10 yards a day. all in different towns, via google maps shortest route it was 23 miles. this was on a more active day. sometimes they would only have 1 to 3 (most of the time).

there have to be some better paying companies but i did not find them, but i was not looking to hard.

i do not recomend working with any foreclosure properties unless you are fine with realy low margins, or a long wait time for money 30 to 45 days after you do the work. premier landscaping pays you every two weeks wich is nice. cuts are every two weeks with them.

if you are sitting on your a*s and have nothing else to do but watch tv, you have equipment that is sitting in your garage on your truck, and you need money because you dont have enough work or money to get by. then it is good work. expect that you need about 45 minutes to do a house(ie mowing, pictures, and travaling) if not more.
i am not sure but there was another company i did work for latter on, all they wanted was pictures and a mowing no edging(triming) grass removal(bagging), or blowing. they also paid $20 a yard but after 30 days. they had given me about 30 houses every 2 weeks.

you realy need to see how close together the houses are to determine if it is for you, or worth to put a crew to work

Sorry forgot to mention the 30-40 pictures per a job they wanted and she said but don't worry once you know what we look for and if you take good pictures ie no glare or anything alike then you can take 15-20 and I said being that I am alone I would need to stop the mower mid mow and take a picture of my equipment laying in the yard....REALLY to prove it's me doing it...I am not in the photos. Whatever they wanted me to pick an area I said 5 miles that covers a lot of towns in my area (so i can tack a few of these to my route) and some major ones with a lot of foreclosures and she said how about a zero after the 5. I said what she said can you cover 50 miles or at least 20 and I said 5 is a stretch for 20 a cut. Then when I bitched about twenty and some being left alone awhile she said take photos and if it is grossely overgrown then they can submit to the bank for more money and "hope" you get the trip again with the extra money. Then at the end of the day taking notes stopping to take a picture of the street sign (yea they want that too with a photo of the house number) and all the other photos of the house I Said that's an extra 2 hours worth of work for 10-20 houses a day. Not worth it. I passed! Let alone what they were graciously giving you for snow removal I think it was 25 a house and the legal ramifications if someone falls all comes on you even if you were told no salt or just salt or just shovel yada yada I said PASS or you sign MY CONTRACT which leaves all the liabilty to the home owner IE the bank and they refused so I marketed for myself. In the contract I got it said you couldn't leave any marketing material there ie signs, flyers, or cards or you will be fined

That is a very interesting point to consider. I do wonder how that would all play out in court if you were hired to remove snow with no shoveling or salt usage? Maybe you could pass the liability on to the bank? But I guess either way, it would still be a problem.
