Xray,

Meiers Landscape needs you to make a website for them based on your template #3.

Please asap put their logo on the main page. Put "under construction" below the logo and then below that put their phone number.

I will email you the specifics.

Thank you.

macemeier 03-23-2004 10:15 AM

Ok guys. First thing we need to do is create a single web page that has my company logo. Add to that my phone number, which is 972-365-8772 and a message saying "Our websight is currently under construction." If you guys can upload that to the Ipower web hosting server, that would be oustanding. He has the passwords and everything needed for that.

As for the actual websight, I'll have to figure out exactly what I want to do this evening and post later.

Thanks,
Mace Meier

Steve 03-23-2004 04:31 PM

Hi Mace,

Check your email.

Xray 03-24-2004 01:51 PM

I took care of the underconstruction text. http://www.meierslandscape.com/

I will next put together the template in a temp directory. I will post when it's up.

Xray 03-25-2004 11:47 AM

The temp page is up.

http://meierslandscape.com/temp/

*What text do you want on the home page?
*What services do you want listed in your services page?
*What text do you want in your about us page?
*Do you have photos for the sample photos or should I use the ones I have for other websites?

Xray 03-26-2004 08:29 AM

I added more pages.

Weekly Mowing and Bi-Weekly Mowing should link to the same page.

Our mowing service, whether done weekly or bi-weekly(every other week), includes mowing, trimming, edging and blowing off all paved areas.

The right way to care for a bermuda lawn in Texas is to treat it like a golf course fairway, which means mowing the lawn at least three times per week. *(To find out why, click here). *However, outside of golf courses, it isn't financially practical. *So most lawns in this area are mowed either weekly or bi-weekly.

Each year in late February to early March, we scalp the lawn. *The scalp mowing removes all the dormant grass blades and mulches them back into the soil. *This allows more sunlight to reach the soil, which produces faster green up. *This also enables us to start the season at a lower cutting height, which helps us cut grass blades instead of grass stems further into the season. *As the season progresses, we gradually increase the cutting height.

Our regular weekly service begins in late March and goes through mid-October. *In Mid-October we convert our weekly service to bi-weekly service until we get our first freeze, which is typically around Thanksgiving. *Our bi-weekly service starts late March and ends upon first freeze.

As you may notice on our service agreement, we do not allow "skipping". *Many of our customers ask us “What do you do in the winter?” *We try to stay busy in the winter installing landscape designs, but because our strategic focus is on landscape maintenance, that’s tough to do. *We have to earn the bulk of our annual income in 32 to 34 weeks. *There is a limit to how many stops we can schedule in a day, so if you’re on our schedule, you’ll be serviced. *As much as we’d like to allow customers to skip a cut every now and then to save a little on their landscaping bill, we simply aren’t in a position to allow for that. *All of our existing customers have agreed to these terms. *We feel these terms are very reasonable.

Bed Weed Control
Bed weed control consists of pulling or spraying weeds as they emerge from the bedded areas of the landscape. *This service is performed 12 months per year. *Typically, broadleaf weeds and non-crawling grassy weeds are pulled. *Nutsedge and bermuda found growing in beds are sprayed when possible. *We've found that it's nearly impossible to successfully pull these weeds and remove the roots from the heavy clay soils that are native in this area. *That's why we spray them. *Often times, these weeds require multiple treatments.

Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control
The absolute best defense against weeds is a thick, dense, healthy turf. *Our program consists of 6 applications per year and is specifically designed to promote healthy, thick, green turf. *But unlike many of our competitors, our program is also designed with the thought in mind that it's got to be mowed on a practical schedule. *That's why we only apply nitrogen 4 times per year. *We apply just enough nitrogen to keep the lawn healthy, but not so much that it grows too fast, which can easily cause the weekly mowing to be too much work. *Our fertilization & weed control product is designed to achieve maximum results when combined with a weekly mowing schedule and adequate watering habits.

Bed Clean-Up and Mulch
We use only premium shredded cypress mulch, which we have found holds it's color longer than any other type of mulching material. *The service consists of removing all trash and debris found in bedded areas, pulling & spraying weeds and laying new mulch at a depth of approximately 3 inches. *As the mulch ages, it slowly turns gray. *Many customers have us come around every year to apply a light dusting of fresh mulch to cover up the older, gray mulch.

Fire Ant Control
The imported brazilian fire ant isn't native to Texas. *It is thought to have been imported to the US by way of New Orleans over 100 years ago. *Because the fire ant isn't native to Texas, it has no natural predators. *Texas A & M University is in the process of bringing in flies from South America that prey on fire ants, but so far, they haven't survived a winter north of Waco. *The north Texas fire ant problem is here to stay.

Our fire ant product is applied once a year to the entire landscape and not only kills existing *****ies, but also prevents new *****ies from forming for an entire year. *The active ingredient is the same active ingredient used in Frontline, the flea and tick treatment placed on the back of a dog or cat's neck. *On most landscapes, we apply less active ingredient than what you'd find in the dose for a small dog.

I'll finish up later.
Thanks,
Mace Meier

Shrub & Tree Trimming & Pruning

At Meier's Landscape Maintenance, we realize there's more to pruning and trimming than just firing up the chainsaw and getting after it. *It's of critical importance that those who trim trees have a good understanding of the way tree bark heals. *We see examples all over town of tree limbs that have been improperly cut, producing openings that will never heal. *These openings will eventually allow boring insects to penetrate the tree and kill it. *Through years of education in the Landscape Contracting program at Oklahoma State University, we know how to do things the correct way. *We've also made substantial investment in our trimming & pruning equipment. *We have the tools and the know how to give your landscape plants the manicured look you want. *So whether you want a one time trim or you'd like to schedule regular trimming/pruning, we can help.

Autumn Leaf Clean-Up
Most trees in this area start losing their leaves in late November and leaves continue to fall through about mid-January. *Customers can choose to have their leaves cleaned up right before Thanksgiving, right before Christmas or right before the Super Bowl (late January). *Some customers have us come out for all three occassions during the winter months to clean leaves. *Autumn leaf clean up consists of removing all leaves from the lawn and beds and mulching them with our shredder. *We leave the debris in regular 30 gallon trash bags for the next scheduled trash pick up. *Many of our customers use the shredded leaves as mulch in their beds. *It's very good organic matter for beds and because it's been through our shredder, it decomposes quickly.

Grub Prevention
Our grub prevention plan consists of applying a systemic pesticide to the entire lawn area every year in early spring to provide season long protection from grubs. *The material is absorbed by the grass and anything that feeds on the grass will get sick and die. *The advantage in preventing grubs over treating them after they become a problem is that earthworms, which are beneficial to the soil profile, don't feed on grass roots and therefore aren't harmed by our materials.

Winter Overseed
Winter overseed ensures that your lawn remains dark green all winter. *We use only the best cultivars of perrennial rye seed. *The service consists of scalping the lawn and removing clippings in mid to late September. *Seed is applied at the appropriate rates. *Customer is responsible for following strict watering instructions for the first three weeks of seed germination.

Shrub & Small Tree Insect Prevention
Shrub and Small Tree Insect Prevention consists of applying a systemmic pesticide in early spring to soil beneath the plant's canopy. *The material is absorbed by the plant via the roots. *Any insects that feed on the plant for the next several months will get sick and die.

Seasonal Color
Seasonal color can give your landscape the touch of color that really sets it apart from the neighbors. *We use only the finest 4" annuals available. *All plants are treated with a systemmic pesticide at time of planting that will cause any insects that feed on the plants to get sick and die. *Plants are guaranteed to customer's satisfaction when purchased along with our soil ammendment (if needed) and maintenance plan. *Customer is responsible for keeping plants adequately watered.

Seasonal Color Soil Ammendment
Our seasonal color soil ammendment consists of tilling heavy clay and importing organic matter and sand as needed. *For most clay soils in our area, this is a 'must do' procedure for flowering annuals that you'll be proud of.

Seasonal Color Maintenance
Seasonal color maintenance includes the following services: *1.) *Testing soil pH levels once every three months and making adjustments as necessary *2.) * Applying liquid plant food to annuals bi-weekly 3.) *Removing leaves and debris from planting bed bi-monthly and *4.) *Deadheading annuals bi-monthly or as needed.

Landscape Design & Proposal
Our landscape design package consists of first meeting with you, walking the landscape and discussing your goals. *We take measurements of your entire existing landscape, noting all vegetation, sprinkler heads, irrigation valves, etc. *We use your input, along with our education and industry experience to draw up landscape plans custom tailored for you. *Then, we meet with you again to present our design. *As one can imagine, this requires a substantial investment of our time. *That's why we charge for our designs up front. *If you elect to have us install the landscape, we will always deduct the price of the design from the installation cost. *Our design fee does not include making changes to our designs or drawings. *Customers do not receive a copy of the designs until they've agreed to have us do the installation and paid the deposit.

I updated the site with your new information. If it looks good, I will then put in your new pictures.

macemeier 03-29-2004 07:57 PM

All Pages: Drop the "call today for a free estimate 972-365-8772". It's not needed. The contact us link is easy enough to find. Also, we need to add the visa, mastercard & discover logos to the banner at the top of every page.

Home Page: We need to move the paragraph up, such that it's where the photo is now and enlarge the photo and place it under the paragraph.

Contact Us: We need to delete the "Contact us today if you would like to receive a free estimate for any of our landscape maintenance services." Also, the color of the e-mail is not standing out. Maybe yellow or orange would stand out better. Lewisville is spelled Lewisville, not Louisville.

Weekly Mowing/Bi-Weekly Mowing: Paragraph needs to be broken up as it was detailed earlier in this thread. Too long for a single paragraph.

That's all for now.

Thanks,
Mace Meier
