I explained above, 1 in hand is better than 2 in the bush.

I could have fixed it, but it would have been a hassle. The guy offered me $430 profit for doing ZERO work. I said "yeahh...I can live with that".

The mower was useless to me. I had no way to transport it. I was hoping to trade for a smaller mower, but that wasn't really turning into a realistic goal.
"Hi, I saw your nice 48 inch (blah blah) for sale on craigslist, I was wondering if I could trade you a semi-beat 61" Scag that doesn't run (under it's own power)?"
$750 cash right now is more useful to me than possibly $1100 cash in a month or two after I spend $100 and 5 hours on the mower.

Don't get me wrong, the mower was by no means perfect. It was a very much used, and probably occasionally abused mower. Needed a caster wheel, airbox, oil change, hydro fluid change, new blades, had a gash in the deck, bent/broken hand controls, etc.

Like I said, a heavily used mower.
