    I have a shindaiwa t270 its been a good piece of equipment but yesterday when i start it it wound the string up and make a clanking noise i pulled off the head and looks like the shaft was still working any help or ideas would be appreciated

    I know this is not what you were looking to hear, but, take it to your local servicing dealer. They should be able to look at it and give you a real quick idea whether its worth fixing or not.

    No offense, but your description is so vague, it could be anything from the bearing in the lower end of the shaft, to the clutch, the flywheel, or something more serious inside. Your local servicing dealer will have the training and expertise to quickly give you an idea whether to fix or pitch.
