  • I Need Help Pricing This One!

    Hello Everyone,
    I got a big job on my hands and they want an estimate by tomorrow. There is a small gated community looking for someone to mow EVERYONE'S lawn. Only the front of the lawns. There are 43 homes. They want an estimate for weekly services and bi-weekly services. The lawns are average size. I dont want to give them a bid to high so i need HELP! So what would you charge? This is a big one for me and i bet this would be a big one for you. (I Think it will take me and my helper two days to do ALL the homes) Also to include they only want mow, blow and edge.
    Thanks
    Trevor

    Hmmm....
    This would be a huge job for me as well. Ok so here is what i would do:
    Since your only trimming and mowing the front yard(average size) I would charge $25 each. Now, that's "ONLY" $1075.00 But that would be my weekly price. Bi-weekly i would up that charge to $30 each.
    Hope You get it!!!

      Hi Trevor,

      How long would it take you to service one of those properties including all services you need to perform?

          It seems when a lot of lawn care businesses jump from residential to larger commercial bids, then tend to underestimate the time required to do the job.

          I'd say take your higher end of time per job and multiply that by the total yards. Then round it up to the next hour.

          Compare the price you get from that with what you need to make per hour and see if the figure works for you.

          Keep us posted on how this turns out.

              if I am reading your post correctly you are charging about $6 per lawn, that seems pretty low. Hopefully you are getting enough out of this.

                ccmark;

                i think it will be worth it because they are still building another 60 homes and they said i will get those also if they approve my bid.
                Thanks

                  Trevor,

                  Can you go to the meeting when they open these bids to see where yours was? It might also help you if you are there at the time as well.

                    Steve;

                    They said they wanted to talk it over with the "office". I did go over there and introduce myself and my helper. So thats all i could do. I didn't want to push them.

                          Keep us posted. I hope you get the bid. If you don't, see if you can find out how much the winning bid was, so this can be a learning experience.
