  • Communities are making laws against pesticides

This article is from a Canadian paper. They seem to be advanced in the fight against pesticides.

    What's your take?

Pesticide controls in the works; Residents want bylaw, survey shows - In the near future, the only thing you may be allowed to spray on your lawn in Kingston could be water.

A city committee is set to draft a bylaw that would severely limit or possibly outlaw the use of cosmetic pesticides on private property in Kingston.

The bylaw is a response to a public opinion survey done by the city that showed the majority of respondents - most of whom live in a house and spend some of their time gardening - wanted to restrict the use of synthetic herbicides and pesticides as other towns and cities across Ontario have done.

The only thing around here is a lot of states have already pushed laws that communities can not do bans. It is only up to the state government

Oh that is interesting. I guess there has been a lot of lobbying at the state level to push this through.

Well, their has actually been some laws that were reversed at the local level by the states. The only thing that I know local communities do here is ban phosphorous.
