  • Lawn Aeration

Hi guys it's me. I was wondering should I get a lawn aerator tow behind for my John Deere LX280 I got one for my city customer but that one is a manual one where you hang on to the wooden pole and it has spikes on the bottom so ya. But my question is should I get a tow behind lawn aerator or not? Thanks!

    WHAT????

If I'm not mistaken, the LX line is sold at Home Depot, right? Assuming it is the line at home depot, I would say no. Those are not built nearly as strong as the ones at the dealer. Bottom line: If you wanna kill the tractor, go for it.

Have you been looking on craigslist to see what kinds of aerators may be for sale used and local?

I am looking into buying a Plugr 815 lawn aerator to replace my Ryan Lawnaire IV because, based on it's advertisement, it doesn't beat you up as much as the Lawnaire IV and aerates lawns faster. My Ryan let's me aerate a 5,000 sq. lawn in 45 minutes for $50.00. The lawnaire V does it in 30 minutes. Any input regarding any aerator you use would be helpful

I would buy a bigger walk behind commercial aerator. I have been really pushing aeration sales this year and a two man crew can make $900 a day easy!

How long would it take you to aerate a 5,000 sq lawn with the commercial Ryan aerator?

All aerators are commercial, unless someone is rich and will spend at least 4 grand on an aerator for their ************* to aerate the estate. That said, a Ryan Lawnaire V will aerate 5,000 sq. ft. in 30 minutes. You can youtube Ryan aerators to find out how the the Ryan 28, Ryan Lawnaire V Pro etc...perform. Personally, I am looking for video of the Plugr 815 and 855 aerators, besides what I have seen from Source1, to find out if they are as efficient and easier to work than the Ryans. Ryans are good but Plugr supposedly doesn't beat up the operator as much in a 10 hr. work day.

Toro ride on aerator, no beating up at all. I can rent it for $150 a day and could do a ton of work with it in a day. I made $1000 one day with this unit running it by myself.

Have you figured out how many aerations jobs you would need to have lined up to make it worthwhile buying it?
