eBay / PayPal Scam: Digimax 130

If you received an email about your recent eBay purchase of a Digimax 130, you donít need to bother clicking the Dispute Transaction link.

This is an all-too-common scam to get you to give up your PayPal login information, so donít fall for it.

In the version I received, the Payment Details included:

      Amount: $47.85 USD

      Transaction ID: 2LC956793J776333Y

      Subject: Digimax 130

The seller was named as Edward Harrell, eBay user ID: scratchandgnaw2, although if there really is an Edward Harrell of Springtown, Texas, you can be sure he had nothing to do with this.

          lol

Yeah, I got that in my inbox. I knew it was a scam, but it still made me check my Paypal transactions!

It's weird, all I did was post an ad on craigslist (with a different email address) and my add had a 'picture' of my business email - which means someone is purposely looking at all the postings on craigslist and jotting down the contact info they see.

I would have to disagree with you on that one sir, I have made quite a good some of money hustling the people of craigslist..haha

not really hustling..just buying something cheap..selling it for more..or trading for somethign worth more and more and selling it..

ive made a good sum of money off of that..so im a fan haha

the scams and spam messages sure are a PITA though

              News Report

I just saw on the news tonight that a few bigger companies got hacked over this past weekend and that paypal was one of them. Now they (hackers) are trying to use phising emails to get peoplpe to click on the link and enter in the info on a fake look-a-like website. So Beware!

                Scott,

Did anything else come of this or is it all fine now?

Any thoughts on what others should be looking out for or be concerned with?

Well I apparently really love these cameras, as I apparently bought another!

LOL! I got the same spam email twice. And that's because I made a second posting on craigslist. It's completely real man, craigslist is full of spam.
                  Craigslist gave my email aids.

Well, if receiving spam mail isn't a big problem for you - I would not worry.

You might get a few customers out of it, and that's not half bad.

When you go to check your email, you'll have to browse carefully..
I've gotten emails from spammers which pose as potential customers.

What kinds of things do they write? How do they try to scam the reader?

Well you could end up in never ending conversations, where the scammer continuously asks you various questions related to your work - only to end with them pushing some product on you after the 100th email.

                          What services do you offer?

                          What area?

Oh, thanks! You should look into this www.scam.scam/scam lol

                          ......................

Or I assume that they just take your information and put it into a database where they can then mass flood your inbox with fake products - in hopes you eventually provide your credit card information.

For every real product out there, there is a scam. I've received an email from what looks like my own email address trying to scam me, lol.

                          Example;

                          From: breeze2009@hotmail.com
                          to: breeze2009@live.ca

Wow, by going to this website I received $10000000 off a crate of Ipods

                          (or some junk).

                          ////////////////////

I went to take a bath, ended up burning my damn feet off instead... lol <****- unrelated!!!

Ok Scott, I fully expect you to give everyone that reads this a brand new, fully functional, Apple iPod. I expect mine in the mail before the week is up. I am waiting, impatiently. Chop, chop!!

Ok, here is my take on Craigslist. I buy from them but am very careful (only sight seen from local sellers). Furthermore, if I sell something, I won't permit them to "email" me. I post my phone # and if they want to they can call me. I have yet to receive a spam text message or phone call. The phone call could be fun!

"Hi, this is so and so from so and so scam company. We are calling to tell you that you have have won blah blah money making machine.

Hello, you have just called the Blank Police Department. Please hold while we forward your call to the next available Detective who will trace your call. Thank you!
