  • Vehicle Decal or Magnet?

Hello all, I am just wondering how many of you have vinyl decals or magnetic signs for your company that is placed on your vehicle or trailer.

Which one is better, decal of magnet?
How much business is gained by having them?

    Thanks!!!

Personally, I don't care for magnets. They appear less professional, and I've never been a fan of stuff that can rub the paint.
Maybe if it's your daily driver and you don't want to be seen with your business info while driving around "off duty"?

    Here's a better question...

How much business is LOST by NOT having them?

I'm getting mine done soon. I didn't have the money last season, but I'm going to scrape some up and get it done. I KNOW I'm losing money by not having lettering on my truck. How do I know? Because I DO have yard signs that I place out while mowing, and THEY have gotten me some work - a lettered truck can only help.

Too true, good point. Are you going to do just the truck or both truck and trailer?

Only pic so far...I'm mowing tomorrow and will take more pics...

BUT I only did applied these this past Sunday, and today I noticed people looking, and one guy writing while looking...so perhaps I'll get a call from him soon....but It catches the eye and anything that catches anyone's eye is worth it.

        Got them from BuildaSign.com.

Heh. I have to be nuts not to do my trailer too. It's screaming for something to be stuck on there...

I didn't really think about the trailer because last season I used this setup almost exclusively...

More equipment this season, so I'll be dragging out the trailer more often.

I'm going to start with something simple on the back window of the truck cap and also across the top of the windshield.
I wanted to get one of those perforated designs that covers the entire back window, but it's hard enough seeing through 3 layers of tinted glass when I'm trying to back up with the trailer. No sense obstructing my view even more.

Have done both and vinyl looks so much better & is not that much more expensive.

I made this 8' sign from a vistaprint banner folded it over a 1/2 sheet of plywood and small bolt every 6" along the edge
Cost about $120 for both sides all said and done.

Only had it on for two days, everyone asks for cards now...especially at the gas station... only bad thing is I have to put the ramp back up after getting the mower of while cutting lawns so people can see it.

Thank You Saber... do you seem to get more business because you have veteran owned on your ads? I seem to get A LOT of business from Vets and wives, whose husbands are in Afghanistan right now.

Thanks for all of the ideas

                      All the replies are appreciated.

I spoke with my old man and he said that when he had a construction business his magnetic door sign flew off when he was driving...he thinks.

I am leaning towards getting an outdoor banner and wrapping around something.

                      Thanks again!!!!!!

Happened to me once as well... and my bro in law... just take it off every once and awhile and clean the area....also, make sure it is flat when you put it on... If I take it off, I usually put a couple of heavy books on it the night before putting it back on....no issues since doing that

I use vista print magnets they are on there second year and yet to have one fly off .

But I do plan on having truck lettered this year as I feel it looks more professional

You should always put your tailgate back up for safety someone could trip and fall over it. Someone around here got sued for someone falling over the wheelchair lift on their handicap van

This will be my 4th year using magnets on my truck. They are starting to warp a bit, probably from heat and cold cycles. I've never had one fly off though. You've got to get good magnet material. Not the thin cheap stuff.
