  • Craigslist ad

    <span style='color:black'>I am new to the lawn care business (which is to say I do not have any customers yet, giving my first estimate today). I have been placing an ad on craigslist and would like to hear your opinions on the ad.

    Fist ad
    http://columbus.craigslist.org/hss/691854346.html

    Second ad
    http://columbus.craigslist.org/lbs/699377498.html

    I have run the second one a couple of times now.

    Thanks

    I think they look good. Right to the point. The first one has an issue on the image shown on my computer. The picture is split down the middle with a 2 inch space separating the halves. Other than that, they are good.

      <span style='color:black'>With my latest ad I have taken a different approach, Marketing the time one will save by having me do their lawn.

      I&#39;ve had to remove the links that go back to my website since craigslist is blocking links now.

          Blaine,

          I missed what you were asking.

          Also here are Ben&#39;s ads.

          They are both very nicely designed and graphical.

          I was thinking, you could create an offer that is available for a limited time only. That might help you get more callers to jump and make the call to you.

              Ben,

              Very nice job&#33;

              What have you thought of your response from craigslist so far?

              How would you compare the response to other marketing concepts you have experimented with?

                Craigslist has been working wonders for me. I&#39;ve actually started getting a lot more mowing customers now than I was getting before...up to about 36 I think. I&#39;ve been so busy that I&#39;ve been working with 1 to 2 other employees every day and have been working 14 days straight with no breaks.

                Just yesterday, Craigslist got me a last minute job at the Rocky Mountaineer Railtours station in Vancouver...they said they were willing to pay a "premium" to get the work done ASAP, so I billed them &#036;45/hour per man vs. my regular &#036;35 and put in a full 8 hours today...thank you Craigslist&#33;

                  Dave,

                  Have you been dealing with any tire kickers from craigslist? Do you have a lot of people looking for the cheapest price and that&#39;s it or no?

                  If you don&#39;t have that problem, how do you weed those low paying customers out?

                        There have been members on here I think Fernando was one of them and he put his ad up every day on craigslist to stay at the top.

                          I&#39;ve only been doing this for a week, but I have been posting on craigslist daily. I have one full season contract from craigslist and one lady that needed her lawn mowed in the next hour. I could not help her.

                            I only post once a week on craigslist, because if you post to much they wills pam you, and delete your post for over posting .I found that once a week in diferent catagorys is good enough. I used to get a response everyday, until it was flooded with competition.

                              Have you been dealing with any tire kickers from craigslist? Do you have a lot of people looking for the cheapest price and that's it or no?

                              I get those kind of calls for sure, but I give them my price and if they don't like it, it's their problem. I actually find I get some of these desperate last minute type of things, since they don't have time to research companies etc. they just look for a quick solution on Craigslist.

                              I've gotten a number of good commercial accounts out of Craigslist and some other jobs for estate sales and things of that nature where people just need to find someone to handle the work, and they don't want/need to put too much time and effort into it.

                              My advice is to have a nice, clean, professional looking ad rather than the "I'm a guy with a mower" type of thing, then people know you're legit.

                              This is my ad, in case people haven't seen it:

                              Craigslist ad

                              Also, to avoid having yourself flagged for spam, set up an account and delete your previous ads before placing it again. I was going daily/once every two days for a while and I never had any problems.
