I thought this was a creative marketing idea. The odor eater show insert company sponsored a stinky sneaker contest and it did get media attention.

It's kind of fascinating because it's like a contest opposite of what the business is all about. The business is about making your shoes smell good. So to grab attention, they make a worst smelling shoe contest.

It kinda makes you wonder if you should have a contest for the worst lawn in your area to garner attention for your lawn care business.

Girl Wins Stinky Sneaker Award - It is said that to fully understand someone, you must walk a mile in their shoes.

But when it comes to 13-year-old Katharine Tuck, you may want to reconsider.

You see, Katharine–of Tooele, Utah–played soccer and basketball, did yard work and walked in the smelly muck of the Great Salt Lake–all for a chance to become the girl with the nation's stinkiest shoes.

    And it worked.

This year, Katharine won the National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest in Montpelier, Vt., beating out five others, winning $2500 in cash, and a trip to New York City.
