Do you have an employment or temp help office nearby? *Tell them you are looking to hire somebody for mowing and yard work for the upcoming season and want to know what the prevailing wages are or were last year.
Raises can be set by merit and/or longevity. *Do you have an employee handbook? *Develop some policies and if an employee meets or exceeds them, consider giving a raise. *
Being a sole proprieter, I'm sticking to using family members, the wife and two kids, to help out when needed. *The kids will get $10 per hour, the wife, well....employee handbook won't be of much use.
Start at $10 an hour. AFter 4 months they get a .50 raise, forman automattically make .25 more than other employees. If they dont show up one day without a 5 day notice they get suspended for 1 day, 2nd time they get pay deducted, 3rd time they dont show up they are terminated.
