    Next year I plan to make an attempt at getting out of doing the actual labor within my company. Anyway, It's 3am, and I couldn't fall asleep because my mind is full of questions.

    I can't hire someone without a license anymore, because that would require me to chauffeur them around which is driving me mad.

    The thought of letting someone (inexperienced) drive one of your trucks and trailers without having a panic attack, how do you do it?!

    Also, to train someone to become the next YOU, instead of having someone spoil your company name... Christ.... Life is tough!

    I suppose I could steal a good employee from another company, but I like to think of the worst case scenario... Like.. Hiring some P.O.S off of craigslist.

    I am actually very interested in hiring two people from another company, one may be too expensive for right now, while the other may not have his license. Maybe he does, but I'm not aware of it.... I'll be calling him tomorrow.

    In general, and if you can be specific, how much are you paying your foremen? I plan to provide a set salary, paid out bi-weekly.

    I can see a big difference in hiring someone with a house, wife, kids, etc, versus hiring someone who can live off of minimum wage (or near). So please let me know if that plays a factor in your pricing.

    What is the plan though for the next step? Do you take on an employee and run a two man crew? Then do you pull back and let them handle the work?

      I will be driving them around the first few weeks, getting them familiar with my standards, and correcting flaws.

      After awhile, they will be driving, and I'll even let the person take control, and tell me what he/she would like for me to do as their employee. I want to see what kind of decisions the person would make, to see if they are the lazy type or willing to raise the bar.

      When all turns out well, and I can trust the person, they are on their own.

      With my free time, I will be focusing on marketing and P.R. I will be selling all day, every day. I think this is the most important thing to be able to do for me. Right now, we have no time or energy to talk with every single client, or to maintain relationships with them - doing so will be revolutionary! We will basically become flawless, with a huge advantage against our competitors.

      The company will grow, and my 'helper' will either receive more money, or we'll take on an extra guy to work alongside him.

      The process will repeat until we take over the world.

        I tried this in the current season. I added a mower and trailer for a employee with the hopes he would take care of the residential accounts. He worked with me last year and knew the properties and what was expected. Then me and another guy would do the commercials and all the other services.


        I do see this as the model of success. You just have to have a full week of work for the other crew. Next year I believe this will work with the addition of a few commercial properties and a handful more of residentials.
