  • Musical equipment repair

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine who has been a musician most of his life. He was coming to a cross roads in his life and was looking for another line of work.

He always wanted to do something in and around the music industry but has had a hard time finding any work that pays. So I said, you know how to fix your guitars and amps when you have problems with them, why not start up an instrument repair business? Most people don't know or care to know how to solder. You know how to do that and you have the equipment to do it so why not?

You have a large connection with musicians in your area and that should help you put the word out you are getting into the business.

This is something you can start on the side at first. Work from home and then scale up as you go. After a little experimentation, maybe you could add drum repair and other instrument repair like brass or reed instruments.

    What's your view on this?

If you have an interest in some field, can you scale it up into a business?
