Sure it's not 100% accurate in regards to how much it will go up, but if the price jumps $1 to $2 in a days time, then you know more than likely gas is going to be going up like 20, 30 or 40 cents.
Another neat thing is www.gasbuddy.com and their gas map. They actually display the gas in colors around the country based on how high or low it is. It's not only eye candy, but really gives you the visual map of exactly where the high areas are.
