    See if you can figure this out, I can not:

    Ok, I had a customer that wanted to pre-pay today for their two properties for applications. Since they were a chamber member they got a 10% discount off the price, and also since they pre-pay I give all pre-pays a 5% discount. Now follow closely, or I might lose you:

    Property 1:
    $281.25 Sub-Total
    $28.13 (10% member discount)
    $253.12 Total Price for Property 1

    Property 2:
    $187.64 Sub-total
    $18.76 (10% member discount)
    $168.88 Total Price for Property 2


    $422.00 Total Price for Both properties
    $21.10 (5% Pre-Pay Discount)
    $400.90 Final Total Price for both properies


    Now this is where it gets confusing. I wanted to show both discounts on the customers invoice. I figure that I should show a 15% discount (10% for member discount, and 5% for pre-pay). But this is the problem that occurs.

    $468.89 Total Price for Properties before discounts
    $70.33 (15% discount total: both pre-pay and member)
    $398.56 Total Price


    Now compare the two prices $398.56, and $400.90. What happened here??? How come I can not get the same price when applying the discounts two different ways?

    LOL good question.

    Are you taking (price) * 10% off and then after that
    taking the price you get * 5 % off?

    In the first example.

    If you are, you not taking the % off together and therefore you are taking 5% off a lesser price. Which would give you a different number.
