    Listen to other podcasts here.

Here is a great interview with Anthony of UnitedEnvironment.com. Anthony got his start in his father's business at the age of 6. As he grew into an adult, conflict arose between him and his father and he spun off his own landscape design and maintenance company. Nothing has been easy for him. He has run into many problems. Underbidding jobs, broken down snow plows, going into debt. But he has pulled it through and kept moving forwards. He also turns some of his landscape projects into a video show called The Landscaper which has been much talked about lately. I hope Anthony's story inspires you.

Well, age for one. I'm currently 20 so I understand what Anthony is saying. I've had a few people ask how old I was and they normally say I look in my late 20's so I just say in my 20's and leave it at that. I don't think age should play a role in their decision if I know what I'm talking about.
I can also relate to starting with nothing and struggling. I laughed when he mentioned the part about you can stay in business with only a few accounts as long as you want to, I was in that place last year. I never allowed myself to think I was going to close up, if I had to get a part time job to support the business, it would be done. Thats the beauty of this business, if your determined enough you can make it. Hopefully this year goes more smoothly and advertising works out better, we'll see in a few weeks.

          Hi kc2006,

Did you find your friends or family were supportive of your decision to run your own business or are they knocking it? How does that effect you?

Uh, for the most part family and friends were supportive. Alittle cautious but supportive. Theres alot of competition in this area so we all knew it would be a rough area to get into. I had a few friends who weren't so supportive, I'm not sure if it was jealousy that I actually went after my goals or if they just didn't think I could achieve it.

The few people that weren't so supportive actually gave me more drive to achieve my goals. I started out with the mentallity that failure was not an option, by them saying what they did, it just made me invest more thought and work into being successful. As for my family that was supportive, its nice to have them there when things aren't looking so good and look to them for advice or just mental support. I run alot of my plans by my parents and my brothers just to see their thoughts on it all and they normally point out flaws or point me in a better direction then before. So its very helpful.

              Hi kc2006,

Did you comefrom a family of business owners? Or was this an entirely new concept to them?

wow, I thought we talked a lot longer. I was afraid that it would have been too long to hold anyones interest. It ended up a decent length.

                    Hi UnitedEnvironment,

Well you have a lot to say! I do hope others found the information helpful. I had heard a bunch of our friends in Australia were listening to it to, so I think that makes you an international success
