CJ wrote and asked as a sole proprietor what tax forms does he need to fill out if he was to hire someone.
Quote[/b] ]You will need to file an individual tax return Form 1040 and applicable state return and complete Schedule C as a sole proprietor as a part of the return.
If you decide to hire someone there are a number of forms to be completed. The first thing is that you should read Publication 15 for Employer's. This is the IRS guidebook for payroll.
The things to consider are Federal and State unemployment,State withholding, and federal withholding. Also as an employer you are required to match and/or pay certain payroll taxes for the benefit of your employee.
I would be happy to discuss the issues further with you or you can contact our office and discuss them with either Leslie Spencer or Linda Zumwalt in our office.
An employee is a big step for every business. It is something that you will want to correct from the beginning as there are a number of penalties and situations that you want to be aware of.
Please call us we would love to help you.
