I saw this article and wanted to share it with everyone. Some of you might have played D&D at one time in your life. It is very creative and forces you to think creatively. Using your mind to come up with all these adventures and such really differs from playing a video game where you basically strap yourself in and take a ride.

David's daughter said "The biggest thing about my dad's world is he wanted people to have fun in life. . . . I think we get distracted by the everyday things you have to do in life and we forget to enjoy life and have fun". I think that really nails it on the head. We all tend to get so distracted in our lives that we forget to have fun and these guys seemed to really have fun creating this product and this world.

'Dungeons & Dragons' co-creator dies - David Lance Arneson, who helped trigger the global phenomenon of role-playing games as co-inventor of "Dungeons & Dragons," has died at the age of 61.

A statement on the game's official Web site,, said Arneson died Tuesday evening "after waging one final battle against cancer."

Arneson "developed many of the fundamental ideas of role playing: that each player controls just one hero, that heroes gain power through adventures, and that personality is as important as combat prowess," the statement said.

The game's co-creator, Gary Gygax, died last year.
