Here is another business idea. Ask yourself if there are many companies in your area selling mulch. If not, could you do this? All you need is a little space and a wood chipper.

Would this be a good add-on to your company?

Landscapers and mulch yards reaping the benefits of an active housing market (http://www.independentmail.com/and/business/article/0,1886,AND_8180_4697269,00.html) - "People are making their vacation in their back yard," said Jimmy Williams, owner of Williams Mulch & Bark Yard in Anderson.
The increasing desire to create a back yard oasis causing more business for landscapers, but also for mulch companies.

Mr. Williams said because of the trend toward using more landscapers, he’s also seeing an increase in the number of mulch businesses around the Upstate.

"There’s good money in it," he said. "Nobody cuts their own grass anymore, just like nobody cooks for themselves anymore."

Mulch companies say there is more business out there, whether caused by a recent lack of rain or a desire to do less yard work.

Clemson University used to purchase 15 to 20 dump-truck loads of mulch a year from Bark Plus Inc. in Pendleton. Today, the university is buying 50 to 60 tractor-trailer loads of mulch, Bark Plus owner Jonn McCall said.

I know of one local guy that tried it out for a couple of years, but got out of it. He had a huge semi mulch truck too
