View Full Version : Nursery going mail order only?

This is a very interesting business angle. Instead of going head to head with local big box nurseries, this landscaping and nursery company is specializing in hard to find plants and then using mail order to reach a larger audience.

You could do this too! Why not grow a hard to find plant and then become specialized in that type of plant. Put it on your website and sell to consumers across the nation?

Do you like this idea or no? Would you like to do it?

Made to order (http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/business/article/0,1406,KNS_376_4677845,00.html) - Each week, Sunlight Gardens owner Andy Sessions spends several long days boxing up Barbara's Buttons, bleeding hearts, Carolina pinks, asters and anemones for shipment across the United States.

"Our goal is to become a mail-order (only) nursery," Sessions said. The Andersonville business is now a mix of mail order, retail and wholesale nursery sales, as well as a landscaping business.

I would think if you could get a piece of property to do this, you could add this on to your website and become known as a specialist in growing whatever it is.
