Just wondering if this is the average price for this type of mower.

Seems average to high.
That machine is not a hydro either.
If you can swing it get a hydro you won't regret it.
Have you looked into the Better Outdoor Products (BOP) mowers?
I don't know much about them but I've heard you get a lot of machine for the money .
