I was contacted on myspace by Alison who runs this Outdoor Business Card Holders business http://www.myspace.com/marondahomes

Very neat product. If you are interested in it, contact her through her site or give her a call. This product could be really useful on your truck, trailer or even your lawn signs.

I started using something similar on the trucks and trailers at the home show this spring, I bought a holder from Staples Business depot which is large enough to hold my post cards, it is held by suction cups, we go through quite a few cards and get quite a few calls so I guess it is working. I had the printer do up 11 X 14 signs on foam core that states Free Information and contact cards here with an arrow.

Also, every tractor, excavator, mower has a leather water proof pouch with a few cards, if someone walks up to an employee, the employee will answer their questions, hand a card and suggest they send me an email. I prefer that staff do not take the information in case it gets lost, every crew however has a blackberry, if the client insists they will email me the information on the spot and I will contact the prospect within the hour.

I would encourage everyone to have something available for prospects walking by or if they see you parked somewhere, even though this is a business I always seem to be looking for a pen, I swear they have legs sometimes.

I don't want nobody that close to my truck

Or anything that belongs to me!

I'm so serious!

I'd much rather they approach me. My number is on my shirt, front and back. My number is on my cards, my door hangers, etc.

DON'T TOUCH MY ****!

I do notice some people do not want to ask for a card because they just want to Take A card and leave. To many people are afraid to get sold.

I do think a business card should have some good information on them.
Not just company name and numbers because business card are and alway will be you best and cheapest way to advertise.

Thanks for the coments!

One of the marketing concepts I learned a while back is very similar to what Artie is saying and it makes total sense.

For instance, you could market, call my 1-800 number available 24 hours a day and listen to my pre-recorded message on the 5 steps you can take to attain a greener lawn.

At the end of the 5 steps you could say, if you would like to hear more about how we can assist you to attain a lush and greener leave your name and number and we will promptly return your call.

This way you are slowly pulling the potential customer in step by step. Things work a lot better when you do this versus try to pounce on a potential customer and bring them from point A to Z in one fell swoop.

The same thing applies to the business cards. People do at times just want to get a business card and then call so they will feel they have a buffer between you and them and they can always hang up. If they come up to you and ask you for a card, there is always the fear of you will pounce on them with a sales presentation they are not ready for.

Artie, you know, you could even look into having a flyer or brochure dispenser too on vehicles and trailers.

That would totally rock.

It's kinda hard to tell what is going on in that picture but I think having the ability to distribute marketing material like that is very important. Maybe something like that could even be screwed into a landscape trailer as well?

Art,

How big is it and how best would you use it? What kinds of marketing material could fit in it?

They are just new outdoor business card holder but a little less money.

I have a company out of china sending me a sample of 4x9 outdoor Brochure Holder. I will get it on Wednesday.
I will check it out and hopfully order them.
My minimum order has to be 1000 so if I do order them I hope they sell.
If they are nice I would be able to retail them for about $12.99 each.

I will keep you updated.

Thanks!

Artie, I was just thinking.

You could also sell some precut vinyl letters that say take a card like you have in this picture. I bet customers would buy it and you could make a couple of extra bucks on each upsell.

I have been looking into that too.

Steve, How much does people pay for full Color Pair 12 x 24 Manetic signs?

I am looking in to them aswell, do package deals card holder can go on the Magnetic signs.

What do you think?

The cost for a pair Magnetic signs and a pair of Outdoor card holders.
I would sell that package for about $60.

Let me know?

Thanx!

If you are looking to resell signs and stuff like that, maybe contact one of our fellow forum members who has a business that prints them. Tony@696signs.com

See what he has to say to help you.

I would think that you could sell the vinyl letter of Take a Card as an upsell for like $5.00. Maybe you would pay $.50 per unit or even less?

You might find that it's easier and more profitable to do niche things like this than go and offer sign printing that will take time to format and design and ship and provide customer support.

But let me know what you think.

Looks like a good idea for populated neighborhoods. As for the brochure holders, until you come up with something, what about the ones realtors use? They have the big rectangle ones as well as the tubes for rolled up flyers. Both are made to go on those posts in the yard with screws so some modification might need to be done. I'm just not sure of the usefulness of it for myself. I've never had someone approach my truck or trailer (its wood anyway, hopefully an enclosed painted upgrade next year, as I think its the best way to really have the most professional image) and I don't have an office or anything to display one. One thought just popped in my head somewhere in the middle of that last sentence... Since I'm doing a few short sale/ forclosed/ vacant properties with for sale signs in the yard, maybe I could talk to the realtor about putting one up on the post right under his? Sometimes I wonder why I don't work for NASA. Thats a great idea! Especially when neighbors see horrible looking properties look great all of a sudden, and even if they're not interested in buying, don't we all snoop around to see how much the neighbor's house is selling for? And then POW! There's my info with before/ after pictures of the yard they're looking at. Thanks for kick starting my brain guys!

Also what if you put one of these business card holders on certain realtors for sale signs? Would that be helpful too?

I will send some Picture, but keep in mind this a demo so its not perfest YET!

If this works I will order, but they may take about a month to get them.
I do not want to pay $400 extra for Air Shipping so it will be by boat.

Thank you guys!
