This is very interesting. Do you think this will work? Does it give you any ideas about your business and the industry you are in?
Will Free Flights Be the New Airline Business Model?
RyanAir, an Irish airline, is predicting a very interesting business model: Free flights for all within 10 years (http://www.consumerist.com/consumer/flight/ryanair-flying-customers-for-free-167512.php). By stripping down air trips to the very basics**and charging fees for anything extra, including peanuts, a blanket and checking luggage**25 percent of customers are already flying free. Other cost-cutting and revenue-raising measures including ditching behind-the-seat pockets (to make planes lighter) and painting airplanes with advertisements. The actual in-air experience doesn't sound too pleasant, but for short trips, why would you pay extra cash for things you don't need? Sign me up for a free flight!
