Now is the time to start to combat the higher fuel prices. *How are you going to combat it though?

This is a good question. It really makes you wonder what kind of vehicle you are driving. Do you need such a vehicle. Would a van help save more money than a truck & trailer.
Are certain power equipment manufacturers making better fuel efficient products than others?
Would a fuel tank at your shop allow you to fill up when gas prices are lower and help you through when prices are higher?

ya know, i have really thought this one through, and all i came up with was a very simple answer.
we are all screwed

That is just about the conclusion that I have come to as well. Sure, there are a few things that might work
1. gas rewards cards
2. fill up all the tanks when prices are low
3. raise prices up on customers
4. tighter routes
5. smaller service radius areas
6. Do multiple services when at the one property, compared to mowing on Monday, and then turn around and do pruning of shrubs on Thursday

What % of your expenses are fuel costs?

This year, so far 12.87%. It's my second largest expense, behind advertising
Last year, 2005, it was 12.00%

Actually, I just did my expenses for the last 5 days, fuel is now 13.53% of my expense.

WOW! It really shows how these increases in gas can effect the bottom line.
