You can use Godaddy or Namecheap.com I prefer namecheap but it is your choice. Also at checkout if you use namecheap, type in happy2009 for a coupon. That should get you a discount.

If you have any questions about buying a domain feel free to ask :)

Do you guys think that's to long of a name or since it the same as whats on my door and yard sign it will work just fine?
Also should I go ahead and pay for the hosting for the year?

My business name is Just in Time Yard Services.. i find it a bit long so what i did I took initials of the business name and turned my domain into http://www.jitys.ca instead of justintimeyardservices.ca or .com

I think the .net is available for both mikeslawncare and mikeslandscaping. If you dont want a .net and would prefer a .com which is understandable maybe you could try adding on your city name to the end of the domain or state. Just some ideas for ya.

Amazing how long this has taken, typical website should not take more than a few hours, I probably have three to four in mine, it's done and ready to go. Over 500 visits yet I haven't advertised it yet other than word of mouth.

Have you looked at any of the free web templates on here? They will at least give you some link ideas.

Maybe include the following sections: About us, services, testimonials, photos, contact us?

These are all critical, I find customers like seeing the equipment and I know this because when they fill in the contact sheet it will often state I see you own an xxx machine, do you think it would do xxxxxx.

Before and after pics of what you have done, a blog at least a month ahead of what you plan to do, I started this and received a lot of inquiries but became so busy I never kept it going so it's old now but in March I will start writing again how we should start in April, we have 37 landscaping projects ready to go for the spring and 169 clients to spray so at least cash flow will be out of the gate and the company has more than enough to carry itself through the next few down months while I venture off and do some other things.

A good website tells a prospect a lot about you and will more often than not determine whether or not they even contact you.

Just google lawn care websites and keep note of what caught your eye and incorporate similar things in yours, mine is at www.oakridgeyardcare.ca feel free to use any ideas you see, this website has about 6 hour work, did it myself and has provided thousands of dollars in work for us.

That is really interesting! I bet customers must come up with a lot of interesting questions or requests.

Do any of them stand out? Do they ever ask you if you can do something that is totally out of the range of the equipment they are referring to or are they usually within the realm?

Only one, he wanted to fill in a boggy type area and wanted to know if we had the power to do it, I took my sales guy from Deere with me as we were going for coffee anyhow, there isn't a machine around that could do what he wanted, OMG you would have never seen it again and he wanted us to cross his neighbours lawn which the neighbour was cool with but it was across a septic system and this guy needed at least 50 loads of fill, we are talking 100 ton's.......anyhow I walked away but I did explain why.

Driving home I was reminded we would need an environmental permit and we agreed it would never be approved anyhow, that is about the only one that stands out, we have been able to do every job requested.
