hello everyone. I have been in the lawn business for 5 years now give or take one year and although i have learned many tricks myself, I was just wondering if anyone else has learned any tricks to keeping there fleet in top running condition to provent those stupid itty bitty break downs here and there? Just wanna see if anyone has any that i have not thought of myself.

Grease!

haha

seriously though....
Maintain them well, I run synthetic oil in the mowers, keep it all greased & inspect it often. that way you know.... "hey a belt is about to go soon, I should go get one!" not damn, it broke & it'll take 2 days to get.....

Take a wrench to your bolts occasionally.

I literally had an engine fall off the deck of a Toro walkbehind my worker was running in a customer's yard one day. Talk about embarassing. I learned to check the torque on all my bolts as part of normal maintenance.

Also:

Throttle down your engine before powering off and turn the gas valve off. This keeps your carb. from flooding during transportation.

Spring is rolling in quick:
