I thought this was a really great technical drumming video of a Rush YYZ drumming contest winner.

Damn! That guy is good Steve. I play several instruments including drums & Rush drum lines are something I think most drummers at somepoint sit down & try to learn. The guy is fast, technical, & very precise. No small feet by any means to learn the entire track like that including the solo. very nice.

You had to know I was going to comment on this one!

Who is your favorite drummer or drummers?

ehh hard to say, I listen to alot that's a bit off the beaten path though Steve.
I really like the drummers style from 311
Bill Stevenson from the bands ALL & The DECENDENTS
Over the last year I've really started listening to SKINDRED a bit. Their drummer is brilliant. To me a great drumer isn't about all the flash & tricks, It's a matter of good musical taste... knowing when to change the rythems up, what rythems they choose to use for a particular part & how well they accent what the rest of the band is doing & knowing when to just sit back in the pocket & let it ride. Way to many drummers over play & add far too many fills & crap that just mudds the songs up trying to show off.

Check out Skindred, It's a punk/metal band with a rasta vocalist. A very original sound & flavor. I found it refreshing in a such a homogenized music market to hear something so new. Listen to the drummer!

That is a really cool mixture of music! I never heard of them before.

Were you ever a fan of John Bonham? About half way through he has a solo

hey steve you play the drums

No I don't. I think I would like a drum room though where I could just jam out at times really loudly and not bother anyone. I'd like my drum set to have a double bass set up, so I could play some Metallica songs :)

For some reason I thought about halfway through Metallica's 'One' where the double bass kicks in.

I was noodling around on YouTube a couple weeks ago and stumbled upon "Johnny Got His Gun." It's the movie that inspired Metallica to write "One."

Instead of hassling with the copyrights needed to include movie clips within their video Metallica bought the rights to the movie outright. That's some good preemptive planning.

Rick Allen from Def Leppard has always been one of my favorites. F ing crazy how he plays with one arm. especially after being a master drummer with both arms, then losing one. Here is a great video of him.
