weed-eating the curb & driveway

i have noticed alot of lawn care operaters weed-eating the curb and drive way instead of edging it, y is that. Is there a different look from the weed-eater or what. Just Wondering

It saves time, but a lot of times using the trimmer doesn't always get a clean and deep edge. I am guilty of using a trimmer now and then for an established edged account
