View Full Version : Signs on your snow plow?

Do you think this is a vinyl sign on the snow plow? I like the way it looks but I wonder how it's done and if it is a good idea to do? I mean how long could such a sign last?

I am guessing that it is painted on...but I could be wrong

No they are vinyl. I am getting ready to do the same thing to mine. Arent the graphics on the plows when you buy them vinyl. they do last a few seasons.

we do these and they can be done in vinyl, and there are a few things that can be done to help make them last longer.
I would expect them to last 3-6 years depending on how crazy you plow and how well you take care of your equipment.

a lot of people put:
Need Plowing
248 233-6306

Do you have to spray over the signs with a clear paint? Or no?

Do you have any pictures of the plows you have done? That is a great product idea to sell.

No, You dont have to.
We can put a clear film over it that will help them last a little longer.
But IMO i would just put the vinyl on there and look at it as a ever othr year expense..or maybe every 3 or 4 years depending on whos in the driver seat.
the cost of it starts at about $50 without install or shipping.

I am sure we have some pictures somewhere, its just a matter of finding some. I will try to find some and post a few.

Yep, and its not very hard to install by yourself.

In the summer you can put it facing a road for some added advertising!

Here is a quote of part of an email we got from Mark of "Marks Premier Landscaping" after the fist snow with the vinyl on his plows.

I think it says it all...

"those numbers are awesome, the snow doesnt stick to the plow as much either. You should patent the idea or something, give it 2 years and everyone will have it. haha, AND they already paid for themselves by people seeing them.

Thanks Again"

Thanks Mark, We appreciate doing business with you!

I love it. May I also add, we had a past storm of 8-12 inches in spots, and that truck went throught 3 tanks of gas and over 30+ hours of plowing and it still looks brand new, none of the vynil came off, and it helped the snow not stick to it.

I find myself relentlessly giving tonys number to other contractors. LOL. I say relentlessly because I want to be the only guy with it on his plow, but people keep asking me.

I painted my Western plow safety orange this year, then had a sign company paint my phone number on the blade. Now when I come up behind you, all you'll see in your rear view mirror is a really obnoxious orange plow blade and a phone number LOL. I also went to the junk yard and got a second tailgate for my Dodge, which is also painted the same bright orange, with the lettering: PLOWING/SANDING and the phone number. I'm the only one around here with a safety orange plow blade, marketing ploy? You bet!

Its not quitefinished yet, I still have some sanding and painting to do, but when it's complete I'll post some pics. Another friend of mine who plows is painting his purple. Sounds ugly but it just might be a great way to advertise.

"Know anyone who plows?"
"Yea there's a guy with a bright orange plow..."

That is great! You ought to get pictures of your trucks together in a parking lot.
