I have noticed more and more people are getting out of doing snow removal because of fierce compeition, but most importantly, lack of snow the past few seasons.

Now the question for you is, would this be the best time to grab up as many customes as possible hoping that the winter snow amounts will turn around? Would it be best to get your foot in the door now, secure as many customers as possible even though it is a slow time, build up your equipment, and pray that it will snow in the 2-3 years?

Well, what is the downside to doing this?

downside. You buy up or finance all of this equipment then it does not snow. You are then stuck with the payments on the equipment, and equipment just sitting there collecting dust

Would the customers prepay or pay a minimum even if it doesn't snow to retain you? Then maybe that money could be used to buy more equipment?

that is a possible way to go about doing it

It would be interesting to see if you could get money upfront regardless of what happens, in order to secure your services. Keep us posted!
