Have you ever lost a government bid and later found out you lost it due to tricky behind closed door deals?

It seems this mayor was able to get jobs for his town without disclosing the conflict of interest in that he owned the lawn care operation.

Feds charge Paul Jones for tax, mail fraud (http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/news/16215098.htm)The former mayor of Ravenna was charged in federal court today with tax and mail fraud for concealing his role in running a local lawn care and snow removal business, authorities said. Paul Jones, who abruptly resigned in midterm a year ago and moved to Florida, is accused of not disclosing a conflict of interest in state ethics forms andfiling false tax returns.

Jones, 56, the longtime mayor and former state representative, operated PJ Jones Lawn Mowing Service, which had a contract with a local housing and economic development group that managed millions of dollars for the city government.

The nonprofit group, Neighborhood Development Services of Ravenna, paid Jones' business $262,068 from 2001through 2005, authorities said.
