Have you ever heard of such a situation where a company would try and defraud a customer by trying to pass themselves off as a local reputable business and using that company's name?
That is crazy!
When you get ready to clean up, don't rush into anything (http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070126/COLUMNISTS17/701260395/1087/NEWS01) - When clearing tree debris, it's your worst enemy. Because your second-worst tree-clearing enemy is just waiting for you to pop a sweat. There have been and still are crews from out of town who will come by your house and make an offer that is grossly inflated. They may also even say you have a dangerous situation you don't really have and persuade you to take care of it right now or risk the bloody consequences.
In the worst-case scenario, they'll ask for money up front before they do the work, and head out to a steak dinner and laugh at you.
The folks at Ryan Lawn and Tree, a reputable Springfield company, have even had some of these storm gypsies trying to make customers think they're them — using the name Ryan's Tree Service and giving out Ryan Lawn and Tree's number as their own. "They took $900 from a client and didn't do anything," said Cindi Crews of Ryan.
