Have you ever considered expanding your lawn care business into running a garden center?

I thought this was an interesting article. Even though this lco had a garden center, only 10% of their business was the garden center.

Springdale Nursery shuttering its doors (http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17683074&BRD=1382&PAG=461&dept_id=161822&rfi=6) - After more than 50 years of growing business in Camden, Springdale Nursery will close its doors.

Owner David Gantt said the nursery on Dicey Ford Road is ended a sale Jan. 6, and would likely close its doors sometime the following week.

The decision to close the retail garden shop and relocate it to Blythewood was not an easy one, Gantt said. Some 90 percent of Springdale's business is not only landscaping service, but much of that landscaping is originating in Northeast Columbia, particularly in the Blythewood area, he said.

By contrast, the retail business is about 10 percent of Springdale's business, and operating a retail business in Camden has become more difficult in recent years, Gantt said.
