Return address on mailers

I was reading on another site a debate if you should include a return address on your advertising mailings. Tis would be anything in an envelope.

My view is you shouldn't because you want the recipient to open it. If they know who it is from and deem it to be a sales letter, it won't get opened.

What's your view?

I know credit card companies do this when they send offers out. They don't put a return on offers, but have their return on bills.

I've heard of a few people that just won't open a letter if it doesn't have a return, because they know its a sales pitch.

I'd probably go with postcards before I'd send a letter. The less work there is for the consumer to get to the ad, the better the odds of selling the product I think.
