Hello everyone and welcome to the GopherHaul Lawn Care Marketing & Business Podcast recorded 2/21/08.

In this podcast we discuss:

How to price a lawn?

Join this topicís discussion at this link. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....t=7298; (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=8;t=7298;)

How to make the jump from lawn care to landscaping and then what kind of profit potential will you see when you get into landscaping?

Do you need the lawn cutting customer base to transition to landscaping or can you simply start off as a landscaper? Which way is easier?

Which landscaping projects provide for the best profit margins with the least amount of work?

Or friend and forum member Matt brought up a question if you should give a % of the profits to a friend/employee. How should this be handled?

Join the discussion here. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....t=7316; (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=35;t=7316;)

Lawn painting service. This is where you would actually paint a dried up lawn, green to make it look healthy. It could be done during times of drought. $465.00 for a single application. Good idea? Would you offer it?

Join the discussion here. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....ry35624 (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=8;t=7298;st=10;&#entry35624)

Do you use a contract? Is it different from your residential to your commercial clients? How many pages is the contract? Also if you are going to put in your contract a surcharge for cleaning your mower of dog waste, why not offer it as an upsell for $50 per month for 1 dog? Would you offer that?

Join the discussion here. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....ry35758 (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=7340;st=0;r=1;&#entry35758)

Luke asked this great question on the forum.

Whatís the best way to introduce to your customers that you are using contracts in the new season? Should you use a letter? If so what would you have the letter say?

Join the discussion here. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....t=7343; (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=17;t=7343;)

We discuss the lessons to be learned from the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. Why do rich people buy assets while poor and middle class people buy liabilities?

What stops people from succeeding.

Join the discussion here. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum....309;r=1 (http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=7309;r=1)

What time zone are you in? If I remember correctly I think you are like 2 hours ahead of my time. idk

But I will be available pretty much all night so it doesnt really matter when. LOL

Well I do but nothing quite finished yet. I started making a flyer and I also already have a few older ones that I think i'll use this year. And I'm in the phone directory so that may help. But I'll see what I can come up with to let Chestin take a look at. LOL

Yeah I just figured out that I'm 2 hours BEHIND you. So when it's 6:30 there then it is 4:30 here. I usually get home from practice around 5:30, so i may be a little late. I can still join if you guys have all ready started right? And do you have any ideas of what we're gonna be talking about yet? LOL just wondering so i could give them a few thoughts tomorow. http://www.gophergraphics.com/forum/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

THanks

Thanks to everyone for taking part. We had a blast talking about a lot of the issues that came up in the forum recently as well as the concept of working on your business not in your business. I will get the audio up shortly.

Did anyone have any thoughts on the discussion last night?
